Webinar: Helping Clients Unlearn Anti-Fat Bias and Survive the Weight Centric Healthcare Cycle

Helping Clients Unlearn Anti-Fat Bias and Survive the Weight Centric Healthcare Cycle

Thin has always been in, but between GLP-1s and SkinnyTok, anti-fat bias and the pressure to be thin has become more prevalent in recent years.

In their Fat in Healthcare report, Vinny Welsby surveyed 270 people about their experiences in healthcare as a fat person. Based on these anecdotes, Vinny developed the Weight Centric Healthcare Cycle, describing the individual experiences and systemic factors that keep fat people stuck in sub-standard healthcare, often leading to misdiagnosis at best or death at worst.

In this webinar, Vinny will share some of the highlights and powerful anecdotes from the Fat in Healthcare report, and discuss practical strategies for clinicians to help empower clients/patients to unlearn their own anti-fat bias and push back against the Weight Centric Healthcare Cycle.
