Watch Party – Incorporating a Food Justice Lens in Your Practice
Watch Parties are a dedicated time where we can gather and watch one of the recordings from a past webinar together. WIDIC members will have the opportunity to vote on what to watch every month! There will be additional time at the end blocked off for discussion and peer support.
Access to the Watch Parties will be available to all WIDIC members and anyone who has previously registered for the webinar, or purchased the recording. The Watch Parties will not be recorded.
For this month’s Watch Party, we are watching Incorporating a Food Justice Lens in Your Practice presented by Evita Basilio, RD in February 2022.
Striving towards food justice means acknowledging and working to dismantle inequities that contribute to health and nutrition problems. This webinar will engage in conversations about food insecurity, systemic racism, impacts of colonialism on Indigenous foodways, the environmental and social impacts of our food system, and provide a discussion on working together to infuse justice-enhancing principles within client care.
You will learn:
- What food justice is and what it means for the dietetic profession
- Reflective approaches to address preparedness for socially just practice and advocacy
- How to create a justice-oriented approach in your work, practice, and nutrition recommendations
