For this month’s Watch Party, we are watching Understand to Stand, originally presented by Anika Dhalla, RD in Dec 2021.
Healthcare settings can only be as inclusive as the people who are in them. When we don’t completely understand our own biases and beliefs, the risk is that our patients, colleagues and peers are potentially harmed from the system. Understand to Stand examines how to not be a bystander when witnessing oppression, discrimination, and bias. Anika approaches the topic by introspectively analyzing power, privilege, and the impacts of colonialism.
After this webinar, you will:
- Be able to identify real-life examples of colonial impacts
- Be aware of personal power and privilege, and its intersections.
- Have tools to use when standing behind each other, colleagues and patients.
