Webinar: Unapologetic Aging in Nutrition Care: Supporting Clients at the Intersection of Anti-Aging, Longevity, Wellness & Diet Culture
As anti-aging, longevity, and wellness messages increasingly shape the nutrition conversations happening in our offices, Registered Dietitians are caring for clients who feel unprecedented pressure to optimize their bodies in the name of health. While many of these messages are grounded in kernels of scientific truth, they are often amplified by ageism, diet culture, and fear-based marketing that can leave clients more preoccupied with managing their bodies than living their lives.
This presentation invites participants to explore three essential questions:
- What cultural forces are shaping our clients’ relationship with aging?
- What do aging bodies actually need?
- How can we help clients build a relationship with their bodies that supports a meaningful life?
Grounded in current research and more than forty years of clinical experience, participants will examine the intersection of anti-aging culture, longevity science, wellness culture, ageism, and diet culture; review evidence regarding normal metabolic changes and nutritional needs with aging; and discuss emerging considerations surrounding GLP-1 medications in adults over 55. Throughout, the focus remains on helping clients pursue health in ways that foster nourishment, strength, function, connection, and self-trust rather than fear and body control.
All registrants will receive access to the recording and any additional resources as available. Unapologetic Aging in Nutrition Care: Supporting Clients at the Intersection of Anti-Aging, Longevity, Wellness & Diet Culture awards 1.5 CPEUs in accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s CPEU Prior Approval Program.

Deb Benfield (she/her)Deb Benfield, M.Ed., RDN, LDN, RYT is a Nutrition Therapist, Registered Dietitian, and Body Image Coach with 40 years of experience helping people heal their relationship with food, movement, and their bodies. Her work sits at the intersection of anti-ageism, body liberation, and trauma-informed care, offering a radically compassionate alternative to diet and wellness culture, especially for those in midlife and beyond.
After turning 60, Deb began questioning the dominant narratives around aging, vitality, and beauty, and quickly realized how many resources still centred weight loss and youth as ultimate goals. In response, she created what she couldn’t find: a framework for nourishing the body that honours inner wisdom, prioritizes quality of life, and embraces the full spectrum of aging.
She’s the author of Unapologetic Aging: How to Mend and Nourish Your Relationship with Your Body and offers individual and group coaching to help others age unapologetically—on their own terms.
