Webinar: Building 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusive Practice
Adopting a weight-inclusive approach to practice is often a springboard for many dietitians to consider what inclusive practices look like for other marginalized populations, including those who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+. Beyond using correct pronouns and understanding different health risks, what does a 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusive practice entail? Dietitians Craig Pacheco and Gordon Ly, co-owners of Queerly Nutrition, will review how to create a more 2SLGBTQIA+ friendly practice, regardless of your practice area in dietetics.
Learning Objectives
- Define and contextualize key 2SLGBTQIA+ terminology relevant to dietetic practice, including language that affirms diverse gender identities, sexual orientations, and relationship structures.
- Analyze the impact of systemic oppression and health disparities experienced by 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and evaluate how these factors influence trust, safety, and engagement within the therapeutic dietetic relationship.
- Integrate principles of weight-inclusive and 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming care into dietetic case scenarios, demonstrating culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive approaches to nutrition assessment, counseling, and care planning.
All registrants will receive access to the recording and any additional resources as available. Building 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusive Practice awards 1.0 CPEU in accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s CPEU Prior Approval Program.
