Why Dietitians Join WIDIC

I have been a part of WIDIC for over two years. I initially joined because I wanted to learn more about weight inclusive care and how to apply it to my practice, and I have stayed because the continued learning and peer support is invaluable. As a private practice dietitian who works alone, it can be really difficult to stay up to date on certain topics (there are only so many hours in the day), but with WIDIC I always walk away from workshops or Peer Support Round Tables with a new tidbit of information that I can use with my clients or apply to my work. I can truly say that having like-minded peers to rely on, ask questions, and receive feedback from has made me a better practitioner.

— Jennifer Neale, MSc, RD, Nutritioniq

I joined WIDIC because I felt this was a membership that provided me the necessary on-going education to minimize the harm I was doing as a registered dietitian. I also felt WIDIC was centering equity deserving voices in their education and their offerings. There is a lot of variety in the education and resources they offer which ensures that it is relevant to my work in food access and in homecare. My favourite part of the membership is having a bank of amazing scientific articles to send to primary care providers when trying to advocate for clients who are not getting proper health care because of their weight.

— Abby Richter, RD, Fresh Food Prescription (Rx) Program Lead

I really appreciate being a WIDIC member because it grants me access to SO MANY useful webinars on a monthly basis, as well as the recordings for those that I can’t attend! The webinars have definitely helped me continue to learn and grow and make concrete changes to my practice as I strive to be more and more weight inclusive. Oh! And I also really love the emails with all the upcoming events and CE opportunities because all of the info is in one place – this saves me tons of time!
